Alicia Kavon, Director and Certified Pilates Instructor, received her BFA in Dance in 2000 and then earned her 700 Hour Pilates Certification from Ellie Herman.   The Ellie Herman certification focuses on all level of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates for the Mat, the Reformer, the Springboard, the Cadillac and the Wunda Chair.  With her experience and formal education Alicia's teaching style is serious about technique while challenging each individual to achieve their possible best.  She strives toward transforming a person out of injury, helping people overcome physical limitations while also creating  better posture, a stronger core to support the back, and to prevent further injury by realigning the body and correcting imbalances.

Alicia opened Pilates Central in 2005 after much encouragement from clients and students alike.  She has since been featured in the Cooper Young Newspaper, Memphis Health and Fitness Magazine, the Memphis Business Journal and the Commercial Appeal.  Pilates Central has also donated or sponsored local charities/events round town such as the Exchange Club, Race for the Cure, the Junior League, Christian Brothers High School and Girls Inc.

Leslie Jones, certified yoga instructor, has been teaching yoga at Pilates Central since September 2007. Leslie is committed to the vinyasa style of Iyengar yoga, and her classes endeavor to develop mindfulness, confidence, and compassion through an emphasis on the breath, heart, and body alignment.  She is especially interested in the physical and emotional changes yoga initiates; her teaching style has been described as quietly challenging.

She continues growing as a teacher and yogini through her own practice, attending advanced workshops, and discussing yoga philosophy with other yoga instructors.

Leslie also teaches at Midtown Yoga and Inside Out Gym, and offered a special workshop on yoga at the Gandhi-King Conference on Peacemaking in October 2007.

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Leslie began practicing yoga in earnest shortly after moving to Memphis and completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training program offered through Midtown Yoga.

Susan Authement Dunnam, Certified Pilates Instructor is mat certified with Physical Mind Institute and she also completed the 700 hour mat & equipment certification from Ellie Herman studios.  This certification focuses on anatomy, kinesiology, posture and basic bio-mechanics.

Susan was born in Louisiana and moved to Memphis in 1972.  She enjoyed several sports while growing up including tennis, swimming and gymnastics.  She discovered aerobics and running in the 70's, yoga and rolfing in the 80's and Pilates in the 90's.

She started her Pilates journey when she lived in Aspen, Colorado after injuring her back while snowboarding.  Years later while living in Florida, she got her first certification because there were no instrutors in her area.  She has been passionately studying and teaching since 2003.

In addition to teaching at Pilates Central she also teaches at her home studio, at Grace St. Lukes Church in Midtown, and at the downtown YMCA.
